Privacy Policy

WestMade Renovations respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website, why we collect it, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and the choices you have. It applies to westmaderenovations.ca — and to westmaderenovations.com, which we also own and which forwards here — and to enquiries you send us through either.

Who we are

WestMade Renovations is a residential renovation company based in North Vancouver, British Columbia, serving Vancouver and the Lower Mainland. For the purposes of Canadian privacy law we are the organisation responsible for the personal information described in this policy.

You can reach us about anything in this policy by email at contact@westmaderenovations.com, by phone at (672) 971-8009, or by mail at 1675 Lions Gate Ln, North Vancouver, BC V7P 0E3, Canada.

Information we collect

We only collect what we need in order to answer you and to quote work accurately. There is no account to create on this site, and we do not sell anything through it.

  • Information you give us in the quote form: your name, email address, phone number, the type of project you are planning, and whatever you choose to write in the message field — which often includes your address, room dimensions, budget range, and timing.
  • Information you give us by email, phone, or text after you get in touch, including photos of your space if you send them.
  • Basic technical and usage information collected automatically by our analytics tool: pages viewed, approximate region (city-level, derived from a truncated IP address), device and browser type, referring site, and time on page.
  • If you reach our site by clicking one of our Google ads, the link carries a click identifier that lets us see that the visit — and any enquiry that follows — came from that ad.

Why we use it

We use the information you send us to reply to your enquiry, prepare an estimate, schedule a site visit, and — if you go ahead — plan and carry out the work. We use the analytics information to understand which pages people find useful and to fix problems with the site.

We advertise on Google. We use the advertising information described above to measure how well those ads work — how many people who clicked an ad went on to request a quote, tap our phone number to call us, or ask for directions to our address — and to show our ads again to people who have already visited this site. That is aggregate measurement and audience membership: we are told that a call or a directions request happened, not who made it, and we do not receive your name or contact details from Google as a result of it.

Under Canadian privacy law we rely on your consent. Submitting the quote form is a clear indication that you want us to contact you about your project. You can withdraw that consent at any time by replying to any message from us or writing to the address above; if you do, we will stop contacting you, subject to any records we must keep for a project already underway.

We do not use your information for automated decision-making that has a legal or similarly significant effect on you, and we do not sell it.

Who we share it with

We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information. We share it only with the service providers that make the site work, and only to the extent they need it:

  • Craftify AI — hosts this website, and provides the quote form on our contact page. The form is theirs, embedded from craftify.ai, so what you type into it reaches them before it reaches us.
  • Google LLC — provides Google Analytics 4, which measures site usage; Google Ads, which measures our advertising and supports remarketing; the Google Maps embed on our contact page; reCAPTCHA, which protects the quote form from automated spam; and Google Workspace, which hosts the mailbox your enquiry lands in.
  • Sentry — receives automatic error reports if something goes wrong while the quote form is loading, so the fault can be diagnosed.
  • Trades, suppliers, and subcontractors on a project you have engaged us for, where they need your address or scope details to do their part of the work.
  • Professional advisors, insurers, or authorities, where we are legally required or permitted to disclose.

Where your information goes

Some of these providers are based in, or store data in, the United States and other countries outside Canada. When personal information is held outside Canada it is subject to the laws of that country, and may be accessible to courts and law-enforcement or national-security authorities there.

We use providers that offer contractual protections comparable to those required in Canada, but we cannot guarantee the standard of protection in every jurisdiction. If you would prefer not to have your details handled this way, contact us by phone instead of using the form.

Cookies, analytics, and advertising

This site uses Google Analytics 4, which sets cookies in your browser to distinguish one visit from another and to measure how the site is used. IP addresses are truncated before storage, so we see approximate regions rather than individual addresses.

This site also carries a Google Ads tag. It sets cookies that let us measure conversions — recording that a visit which began with one of our ads ended in a quote request, a tap on our phone number, or a request for directions — and that allow our ads to be shown again to people who have visited this site, on Google Search, YouTube, and sites in Google's display network. This means your visit here can be used to select ads you see elsewhere. We do not run tags from any other advertising network, and we do not share your name, email, or phone number with advertising partners.

Our contact page embeds two pieces of third-party content: a Google Map, and the quote form itself, which is served by Craftify. Loading either gives that provider your IP address, and the form is additionally protected by Google reCAPTCHA, which analyses how you interact with the page to tell a person from a bot and may set its own cookies under Google's privacy policy. If you would rather none of that loaded, do not visit the contact page — call or email us instead — or block third-party content in your browser.

You have several ways to opt out. You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings; opt out of Google Analytics entirely using Google's browser add-on; and turn off personalised advertising for your Google account at myadcenter.google.com, or across participating networks at youradchoices.ca. Doing any of these will not stop you from using any part of this site.

How long we keep it

We keep quote enquiries for 24 months from our last contact with you, unless you ask us to delete them sooner. Records relating to work we actually carried out are kept longer, because tax, warranty, and limitation periods require it — generally seven years from completion, and longer where a warranty on the work is still running.

Analytics data is retained by Google for 14 months and then deleted automatically.

How we protect it

This site is served over an encrypted HTTPS connection, and form submissions are transmitted over that connection to our provider. Access to our email and project files is limited to the people who need it to do their jobs.

No method of transmitting or storing information is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a breach affects your personal information and creates a real risk of significant harm, we will notify you and the appropriate regulator as required by law.

Your rights

You have the right to ask us what personal information we hold about you, to get a copy of it, and to have it corrected if it is wrong or incomplete. You can also ask us to delete information we no longer need, and withdraw your consent to being contacted.

Write to contact@westmaderenovations.com and we will respond within 30 days. We may ask you to confirm your identity before releasing information, so that we do not disclose your details to someone else.

If you are not satisfied with how we handle your request, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca) or, for matters under British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act, to the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia (oipc.bc.ca).

Children

This site is intended for adults arranging renovation work. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We update this policy when our practices or the tools on this site change. The date at the top shows when it was last revised. If a change materially affects how we handle information you have already given us, we will tell you directly.
